DILI, East Timor (AP) ? Secretary of State Hillary Clinton missed her husband's speech to the Democratic National Convention but got a preview of the address in the days before former President Bill Clinton delivered it.
Mrs. Clinton says her husband read parts of his speech to her and adds that she's anxious to compare the prepared text to his performance.
While speaking to reporters at a news conference in Dili, East Timor, where she is visiting on official travel, Mrs. Clinton held a copy of Bill Clinton's prepared text.
Hillary Clinton says that for decades secretaries of state have not attended political conventions, and she calls that a good rule.
The 2012 convention is the first Democratic convention Hillary Clinton has missed since 1968.
